On linearization coefficients of Jacobi polynomials

This article deals with the problem of finding closed analytical formulae for generalized linearization coefficients for Jacobi polynomials. By considering some special cases we obtain a reduction formula using for this purpose symbolic computation, in particular Zeilberger’s and Petkovsek’s algorithms.

Linearization Coefficients for the Jacobi Polynomials

i P (α,β) ni (x) et en déduire une évaluation dans le cas particulier où n1 = n2 + · · ·+ nm. ABSTRACT. — The explicit non-negative representation of the linearization coefficients of the Jacobi polynomials obtained by RAHMAN seems to be difficult to be derived by combinatorial methods. However several combinatorial interpretations can be provided for the integral of the product of Jacobi polyn...

General linearization formulae for products of continuous hypergeometric-type polynomials

The linearization of products of wavefunctions of exactly solvable potentials often reduces to the generalized linearization problem for hypergeometric polynomials (HPs) of a continuous variable, which consists of the expansion of the product of two arbitrary HPs in series of an orthogonal HP set. Here, this problem is algebraically solved directly in terms of the coefficients of the second-ord...

Linearization of regular matrix polynomials

This note contains a short review of the notion of linearization of regular matrix polynomials. The objective is clarification of this notion when the polynomial has an “eigenvalue at infinity”. The theory is extended to admit reduction by locally unimodular analytic matrix functions.

Linearization coefficients of Bessel polynomials

We prove positivity results about linearization and connection coefficients for Bessel polynomials. The proof is based on a recursion formula and explicit formulas for the coefficients in special cases. The result implies that the distribution of a convex combination of independent Studentt random variables with arbitrary odd degrees of freedom has a density which is a convex combination of cer...
